by Peter Lo Bianco
Light and its reflections are mixed in windows
At this hour of the evening, with grey and purple
Strands that could be sea or the hazy headland.
As dusk draws on, flares of the lighthouse blink more
Clearly, shadow-painting my grounded boat, with
Its head-heavy listing towards the water.
Can I dream, escaping and floating out to
Ilchulbong, this island’s volcanic dimple?
(I imagine you as you mouth the “dimple”.)
The rocks curry waves into scrolls of white in
Darkness; who’s to say if I see or feel them?
