Kori Moore – Two Poems

by Kori Moore

At the End of the Road

Opening the door to reason when nothing makes any sense
Is sometimes all that we can do as we sit and hope for the best
Life can be charming and kind and other times distant and cold
We can sit and ponder the whys and the how’s all day long
We can choose to run away and cowardly flee the scene
Of a broken heart or grow strength from the happening
We can choose to give it all up and be afraid to face the day
Or we can embrace life head on – falling into the arms of “come what may”
We can be adventurous or shy depending on what we choose
In the end the final decision is up to no one else but you
You can choose to blatantly deny the beauty that’s found inside
Each and every one of us – the beauty known as life
We all have to make the choice to believe lies or truth
Accepting different experiences in life is all we have to do
We can learn from a bitter past if we choose the positive side
Forgetting all the hurt that’s behind – writing it off as a chapter in life
With a heart of understanding nothing can bring you down
So instead of harboring hate be free and let love abound
There is only one thing that remains at the end of the road
And that is simply the tapestry we weave – hopefully yours will be magnificently sewn

Segregated Earth

Separation begins with the color of skin
At least that’s what society says time and again
The media stirs up racial dissension
In place of unification there’s nothing but tension
If we were united we would rule undivided
But that can never happen for we are all still buying
The garbage and trash that infiltrates our brains
Brings nothing but division where love and harmony should reign
Someday the truth will cut through the lies
And when that day comes we will all be color blind
But until then we will continue to search
For a way to keep peace on a segregated earth
